What kind of tasks will my computer be running? Most tasks involve real AI workloads, such as model training, data processing, or large-scale simulations. These jobs come from startups, developers, researchers, and other users who need access to cost-effective computing power. Your system never mines crypto or runs anything shady. Every task is verified and safe. 3. How much can I expect to earn? Earnings depend on your hardware, how often you're online, and the current demand on the network. Higher-end GPUs will earn more. Lower-end machines can still contribute and receive rewards. We’re also working on an earnings calculator so you can estimate your potential before you start. 4. Is this safe to run on my personal computer? Yes. The Chips@Home client only uses the compute power you choose to share. It does not access your files or personal data. The network matches your system with tasks based on available resources. As the platform grows, more types of jobs will be available. 9. How is my contribution tracked? It only uses the computing power you choose to share. You stay in full control at all times and can pause or stop participation whenever you like. 11. Will this impact my electricity bill? Running tasks does use extra power, similar to gaming or rendering. However, you control when and how much your system contributes. In most cases, the amount you can earn outweighs the added cost. Based on typical usage, contributors may earn five times or more than what they spend on electricity. Results vary by hardware, but the net gain is usually worth it. 12. What about privacy? Privacy is a top priority. The client does not access or upload any personal data. It only sends and receives the information needed to complete jobs.
