Spring Projects: Weather Stations and Outdoor Prints
April showers bring May flowers, and we’re officially in the “watch the mountains and hope for rain” part of the year. If you’ve lived here long enough, you know how special it is when the poppies start showing up near the Franklin Mountains.
This week we’ve been thinking about outdoor projects and small tech builds that make the season more fun and useful. One idea we’d love to help someone tackle is a DIY Wi-Fi weather station. We keep ESP32 boards in stock and can help create enclosures and mounts for sensors that track temperature, humidity, pressure, and rainfall, with data sent to Home Assistant or displayed on a small screen. It’s the kind of project that turns curiosity about the weather into something real and hands-on.
We’ve also been working on outdoor friendly prints like plant markers, hose and tool organizers, garden mounts, and strong wall hooks that make patios, yards, and workspaces easier to live with. If you’ve had an outdoor idea (or any idea) sitting in the back of your mind, come see us so we can help you bring it to life.
We’re also continuing our e-waste initiative. When you bring us e-waste, it does more than stay out of local landfills. We collect and process it to keep harmful materials and chemicals out of the environment, and we plan to use donated electronics for educational and community programs through a nonprofit we are building to support future makers and learners. Bring e-waste by, or reach out and we can arrange pickup if needed.
